Romantic Rose Fine Art Photo

Lately, I've been a little obsessed with the scent of a rose.  I have a deep conditioner that has a very subtle rose scent and every time I use it, it makes me happy and calm.  I decided to search my stash of digital photos of roses and fell in love with this one.  I am selling this as an 8x10 fine art photography on my etsy shop.

Mid-Autumn Festival Floating Lantern Theme for Birthday Card

My sister asked me to make a birthday card for her long time friend who's birthday is this month.  Since this is the month of the Mid-Autumn Festival (celebrated in East Asian countries), I thought it would be fitting to create a theme of floating lanterns.  I found some awesome inspirations from pinterest.com.  Can you tell I go there just about every minute I have free?  Here's a few that really put me at awe.

{Reference: http://pinterest.com/pin/176127897/}

{Reference: http://pinterest.com/pin/184388011/}

I created a layout of floating lanterns making their way up to the harvest moon with one lantern having a photo of my sister and her friend stitched onto it.

Inside the card is a lantern style poem, written by Marinela Rika (credited in the card) and reads:

"Dreams
Lift souls
Makes them light
Flying towards
Hope"

I used papers and elements from Irene Alexeeva, Lorie Davison, and Julie Bullock.  I may have used other designers as well but these are the main ones.  The moon brush was from arbent.net.  The font is called, the King and Queen, from dafont.com.

Friday Freebie: Autumn Painted Papers

Since being introduced to pinterest.com, I've spent so much time there collecting things I like and also creating my own boards and adding to them.  You can view what I've pinned so far on my board, here.

I've recently started adding color palettes to my "Likes".  I saw this one that really stood out.  The color combination are really gorgeous!

This palettes is from Design Seeds, a wonderful blog of color palettes galore!

I used the color in the palette as motivation for the freebie today.  I've created 5 painted and textured papers using those colors.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Summer Haze Art Journal and Birthday Cards

This morning, there was a soft haze in the air.  The maple tree in the front yard is starting to change colors.  I can see a tiny bit of yellow and brown on the edges of the leaves.  It is still mostly green but within the next few weeks, that will all change.

Next week, summer will come to its demise for this year, and in honor of long hot days and cool evenings, I put together this layout for an art journal challenge at digiridooscraps.com.

{Summer Haze}

I used papers and elements from the Bollywood Dreams kit by LouCee Designs.  The frames are also by LouCee Designs and the rose element is from Mad Genius Designs.  The photos were taken by me in May.

I am also adding this layout to my 100 Themes Challenge at Digital Whisper

Birthday Cards

In my big extended family, most the birthdays are around the end of the year.  There are 7 (oops!) 8 birthdays to come before the new year!  Since I've been creating cards using digital scrap kits, I've saved a lot of money and time searching for cards.  It's a wonderful relief.  Also, I love that I can create memories with a card.  In a way, it's almost like a mini digital scrap page that I am giving to my family.  It's my way of showing them that I think about them and love them.

The end of year birthday begins with my second to youngest brother's birthday (which was last week).  Here's the card that I made for him:

I used the kit, Before the First Snow, by Lorie Davison.  The written words is my handwriting.

My 9-year-old went to a friend's birthday party last weekend and I created this card for her friend:

I used the kit, Le Ciel de Paris, by Irene Alexeeva.  The handwriting is again, my own.

Friday Freebie: Grunge Paint Splatters

While I'm working on a few digital layouts for a couple of the designers, I'd like to share some grungy-like painted splatters. I've always wanted to create my version of painted splatters so here they are!

I've been pretty busy this week.  Over last weekend I had a photo session with a friend and her family.  It was a lot of fun, not to mention, her kids were so adorable!  I hope to share more photos soon.  For now, here is glimpse at what was captured at the session shoot.

Autumn Fairy Fantasy and Newborn Card

{Autumn Fairy}

Here is another autumn theme.  I created this just because I'm missing autumn.  I'm conveying the feeling of waiting to see magic.  Just when the fairy comes out, it just so happens that the person who was waiting/watching for this moment, has left.  Maybe they stepped away for lunch, but they will miss the fairy because she won't be out of hiding very long.

Here is a close up of the fairy.  I added fairy elf ears by drawing them on with the Wacom tablet.

The girl in the layout is my 9-year-old daughter.  The photo was taken earlier this year.  I used the kit, Before the First Snow, by Lorie Davison.  For the fairy wings, I used wings from the kit, Under the Dogwood, also by Lorie Davison.

Newborn Card

{Sweet Dreams Are Made Of These}

This card was made for a friend's newborn.  I used pieces from the Tom Thumb kit by Irene Alexeeva.  The teddy bear is from the Oh Dear Teddy kit, also by Irene.
