This morning, there was a soft haze in the air. The maple tree in the front yard is starting to change colors. I can see a tiny bit of yellow and brown on the edges of the leaves. It is still mostly green but within the next few weeks, that will all change.
Next week, summer will come to its demise for this year, and in honor of long hot days and cool evenings, I put together this layout for an
art journal challenge
at digiridooscraps.com.
{Summer Haze}
I used papers and elements from the Bollywood Dreams kit by LouCee Designs. The frames are also by LouCee Designs and the rose element is from Mad Genius Designs. The photos were taken by me in May.
I am also adding this layout to my 100 Themes Challenge at
Digital Whisper.
Birthday Cards
In my big extended family, most the birthdays are around the end of the year. There are 7 (oops!) 8 birthdays to come before the new year! Since I've been creating cards using digital scrap kits, I've saved a lot of money and time searching for cards. It's a wonderful relief. Also, I love that I can create memories with a card. In a way, it's almost like a mini digital scrap page that I am giving to my family. It's my way of showing them that I think about them and love them.
The end of year birthday begins with my second to youngest brother's birthday (which was last week). Here's the card that I made for him:
I used the kit, Before the First Snow, by Lorie Davison. The written words is my handwriting.
My 9-year-old went to a friend's birthday party last weekend and I created this card for her friend:
I used the kit, Le Ciel de Paris, by Irene Alexeeva. The handwriting is again, my own.
