How to Add A Paper Corner to Paper
Here are the steps to add a paper corner to paper. You can download and use the paper corner and paper from this freebie posted yesterday to follow along. The instructions for this tutorial is done in Photoshop CS4 but you can use any graphics software you are familiar with.
1. Open the overlay paper.
2. Go to the Layer's panel and double click where it says, Background, to change it to a layer. A New Layer window will pop-up. Don't make any changes, just click OK. The background paper now becomes Layer 0.
3. Now, create a new layer. The new layer will be transparent. Note: Some prefer to open a new document with a transparent background then copy and paste the overlay paper on top. That works too.
4. Move the new layer (Layer 1) below the paper layer (Layer 0) by right clicking and holding down the mouse on Layer 1 then dragging it below Layer 0.
5. Open the paper corner. Copy and paste it on top of the paper and move it to the top right corner.
6. Then, go to the paper layer (Layer 0) and duplicate it. Move the duplicated layer to the top of the layers panel.
7. Now, clip that paper onto the corner paper by right clicking on that layer and selecting, Create Clipping Mask. This is so that the corner has the same texture as the paper.
8. Next erase the paper at the the top right corner. To do this, select the paper corner by holding down the Command key and left click on the mouse on the layers panel. You'll see dotted lines or marching ants around the paper corner.
9. Go to, Select > Inverse. This will deselect the paper corner and select everything else.
10. This is what it will look like.
11. Select the Eraser Tool. Set your brush size to about 150 (I have mine at 152), Opacity at 100%, and Flow at 100%.
12. Select the paper layer and erase the top right corner.
13. Like this.
14. Once you are done erasing, click anywhere on the gray area outside of the paper to clear the marching ants. Then, go to the top layer (Layer 0 copy in the image below) and rotate it. This is so that the paper corner does not look seamless with the bottom paper.
15. Add drop shadow to the corner paper to make it appear as though it is on top of the paper by clicking the fx at the bottom of the layers panel and choosing, Drop Shadow.
16. Adjust the shadows so that it looks real. You can also use what I've posted below.
17. Now to add color to your paper. Add a new layer above the paper, then go to your tools box, and select the Paint Bucket Tool.
18. Choose any color you want or you can go with the color I'm using below.
19. Your paper should now look like this.
20. With the color layer selected, click the Layers drop-down and choose, Overlay.
21. Your paper will turn a lighter color by allowing the paper to show through creating a painted-like look. Next, clip the color paper layer to the paper.
22.This is what it will look like.
23. Now add color, clip, and blend the same way you did in steps #17-20 to the paper corner. Except, when blending, use Linear Burn and set Opacity to 60%.
24. This is your finished product. To save, hide the transparent layer (Layer 1), merge layers, and save your file as PNG.
There's a lot more you can do to the corner paper to make it appear real, such as, warping the paper corner and shadow separately, and adding dodge and burn. For this tutorial, I've tried to make it as simple as possible but I know that it still seems like a lot of steps.
I hope this tutorial helped you with your digital scrapping! Please let me know if you have any questions about this tutorial.
Thanks!

Project Life Digital: February 14th - 29th
It's taken me awhile to finish two months of this year of my Project Life Digital but I am happy that those months are done and I can move on to the next.
I have been working on my part of a new collab at Hummie's World but it is moving very slowly. I hope to get it in, in a couple of days if possible.

Friday Freebie: Embossed Papers
This week has been a bit crazy. Both my girls have recitals this week. You can view a rehearsal video and photos on my personal/family blog here. I am so glad that summer's almost here and my 10-year-old will be done with school for the year. I think we'll be spending some time at the community pool and maybe visit a few places around town. I'm hoping to make it a fun and relaxing summer.
Today's freebie are 4 embossed papers:

Friday Freebie: Memory Is Quick Page
I used to watch the TV show, "The Wonder Years," as a kid and really loved it. I found a quote from that movie and wanted to share it in this quick page for today's Friday Freebie.
